Did You Know That People Volunteer ... a Lot?

That’s right. More than one billion people volunteer their time each year in charities, community organizations, and churches around the world. And collectively we donate billions of dollars to causes and organizations that help to make the world better. In addition, the world’s philanthropies give many billions more.

Why do we do this?

Because we care. Our efforts help to feed, clothe, house, heal, educate, and support the young and old, the poor and needy, the sad and suffering. They make lives better.

The depth of our caring for one another is a profound reason for optimism, and it’s really good in these stressful times to have something to be genuinely optimistic about. Because, as you undoubtedly know, not everything is going all that well. We face the traumas of war, the politics of polarization, the violent storms of climate change, the fear of economic turmoil, and we live in a culture that reflects all these challenges, and many more. It is a difficult time, and still change is continuing to accelerate.

So given all that’s going on, both the bad and the good, it’s incredibly important for leaders, strategists, and really all of us to step back and try to see the bigger picture. To grasp the enduring trends that are often hidden beneath the daily dramas. We have to do that if we want to make good choices, and to come up with sound strategies.

And that’s what we’ve been working on for the past year, a new book that sorts through the noise and attempts to make sense out of this world of accelerating change and upheaval.

And now it’s available for you.
