A Futurist Perspective on Next Week’s US Election

Elections are instances of collective futurism, whereby voters express their preferences for the society they want to live in tomorrow. As such, they combine civic culture and mass psychology. And in 2024, for the first time in history, elections are being held in which voters representing more than half the world’s population will be expressing their choices. Already some major election results have arrived, in France, Poland, and India, and the US election in November will obviously have significant long term consequences worldwide.

The article goes on to discuss the contrast between the MAGA vision and the Democrats, and what both visions may tell us about the two parties’ thoughts about future.
